I have a Sime combi boiler which has a problem that my insataller is unable to solve and says he is baffled as all tests are OK. Any suggestions welcome as it has already cost me callouts to no avail.
The boiler ALWAYS ignites when programmed to do so.
However, frequently (but not always say 2 or 3 times a day) if it has shut down, it will not then re-ignite if there is a call for heat either from the radiators or the hot water taps. This is despite the boiler timer being programmed in the on position.
In these circumstances it is ALWAYS possible to re-ignite the boiler by switching the main switch to the "off" position and then immediately back to "on". When it is in this state there is a noise rather like a fan. If this noise is absent the boiler will work as normal. It is as if the timer works an ignition switch but flowing water will not.
