I installed my Ariston micro 31Kw combi last December and its worked perfectly ever since ..... until 2 weeks ago when it lost its pressure. Its always been on exactly 1 bar until it dropped to .5 and stopped working.

When I repressurised I bled all the rads, there were no obvious leaks anywhere and the PRV had definitley not operated. Now its losing about .5 bar every 2 days, although the rads are not losing water.

Nothing has happened recently, no nails through the flooring etc, in fact no work whatsoever.

Although I'm corgi registered I'm not exactly an expert on combis and so would appreciate some advice. The boiler is still under warranty, but its difficult to prove thst I don't have a leak in the pipework.

Any help would be welcome.

Cheers

Yeah, just trying to kid myself! OK then, anyone got any experience of leak sealers? 'cos I'm not taking up the new laminate and carpets - cheers

aristons have a penchant for leaking from the main heat exchanger unions. Because ariston combustion cases are probably the best sealing cases in the universe, a leak may never drip openly. Open the case and run the ch because it may only leak when hot.
It's worth a look.

That makes sense and I will try it. Just in case it seems ok and because I have now learnt how to put links in, whaddya think of this stuff :D

Leak sealer works best on small leaks.
From your description, your leak is quite big and the fact that it's happened suddenly suggests it may get worse!
Have you checked inside the combustion chamber yet?

Stripped the boiler, no leaks from the primary HE. I thought I'd also check the burner pressures at the same time, went to do a tightness test & undid the screw from the test nipple at which point it sheared off. Fantastic, now I have leaking pipework and no hot water or heat until Transco turn up.

Anyway, today I injected some LS-1 into a rad and repressurised and so far (fingers crossed) everything seems ok.

Time to get this place sold I think.

Thanks for all your help.
