Combination Hot Water Cylinder.
Coldwater on top tank and hotwater in the bottom. Top cold feed tank has an extra tapping/pipe that is routed off with the domestic hot water from bottom tank? Its 22mm and starts at the base of the top tank, it does not feed the bottom tank (before you ask). See picture.
Its confusing me a great deal??

Chances are mate it's an 'add on', a cold supply pipe that may have been used for a shower or something similar at one time.

Nice drawing BTW, what did you use for that then, eh???

Thanks Dick Puller (odd choice of name)!
I am starting to think its a secondary return pipe, something I have no experience of. Means a special order though as the tank is leaking!
Glad you like my pix!

I'd agree with dick puller, it looks as though it is a balanced cold supply added at a later date for a shower. You could possibly add one your self to a new cylinder using an essex flange.
