My friend called me in tears because she had 2 flat roofs reboarded and refelted and as soon as they finished they both leaked.
I went there today and took some pictures.
Any comment welcome.
I am not a roofer but I'm sure these guys aren't either...

Were they going door to door and were they driving a 20 year old transit with more rust on it than paint?

Jokes aside I feel for your friend, however although no guarantee of quality work, did she source the contractor through doing the basic checks? e.g. are they listed on the local council trusted trader site? If their phone number is Googled, what does it throw up? Have they offered to come back and rectify the faults? etc etc.

One thing's for sure, the resultant work is totally sh1te.

The felting and leadwork speaks for itself and hollow soffit has be used (and fitted) incorrectly for vertical fascia/cladding.

It's not just poor quality, but it is actually incompetent/fraudulent, and if she gets no luck from the roofing firm, then its one for the council's consumer protection/trading standards to get involved with.

Apparently this bloke doesn't drive, he uses buses :eek::eek:
He was recommended by a few people on local forum, probably fake accounts setup by himself.
He has full name and address on his quote and a quick search confirms that he lives there.
His website shows some fantastic roof work with lots of pictures.
Surely not his work.

Sadly even genuine trades use pics provided by the website builder, its no substitute for ch3cking their other wo4k, although even that isn't always practical. Has she paid him?

Blup

You're never gonna believe this...
She paid him £4k out of the £10k for the job.
I told her not to give him another penny and take him to court.
He's now harassing her for the money and said he's going to her home tomorrow.
Unfortunately he will find me there :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Today she had 2 real roofers around to quote for repair and both said that the first roof needs 2 more layers of felt (the cowboy only laid one).
The second roof needs stripping to the rafters because the bodger has simply thrown some felt on it hoping to get paid before it rained.

You should contact the police .
Tell them they are harassing the lady for money she doesn't owe.
Is a real mess and not even finished . Certainly not waterproof

Police are useless.
I have dealt with this sort of things myself all my life.
Nowadays it's even worst if you contact the police because the scammers feel protected.

What a shame she didn’t ask your advice first.

The work has to be ripped off and started again.

Waw! That is shocking.

Was the guy wearing a stetson?

Well you have had the advice. The guy is a fraudster and should be reported. It's not likely that your friend will get her 4 grand back but she certainly wont unless you go down official routes, such as they are. The whole lot needs taking back to the roof and if that is rotten due to leaks then that will have to be replaced along with the felting and a complete job done.
