Hi all noticed what looks like a rubber strip at the bottom of the door is half hanging off.

Can this just be glued back in place? If so would super glue do the job? Is it worth troubling the people who installed the door?

'Back in place' might be difficult if the rubber has spent a while crushed in the wrong place, in the wrong shape.

I can't think of a glue that would help much. Superglue would def' not help as it's not at all flexible.

Best bet would be to try to get the rubber (if it's intact and not torn or worn away) back into its socket- they slide across the door into position, held in a slit of the door- and then use gaffer tape to hold it into position for a few days. This might remind it of it's original shape....

All not easy, given lack of space and being upside down!

The rubber has stretched bit its still remains in the right shape.

I'll have a go at sliding it back across if not ill give the door company a call tuesday.

I take it the rubber just acts as a seal to stop the wind etc?

Looks like a 'door-stop' door to me, quite a common fault with many doors this is, if still under warranty speak to the installers and they can get door-stop to send out a new rubber, from memory its a T shaped rubber which just slides in from the side into the aluminium bit under the door

I've had a look but I can't see where the rubber slides in.

It just looks like it lays flat underneath

Like i said its T shaped and slides in from the side, open the door and get on your knees and look down the end of the door, you will see an aluminium extrusion fixed to the underside of the door, the rubber slides into this, look heres a picture of a door stop door for your ref, the aluminium extrusion is in red, the rubber is in black

We've a strip towards the back of the bottom underneath and that's just stuck flat.

Has the strip had it then as it just looks flat, there doesn't seem to be anywhere it can slot into and hang down

I agree with Crank. Looks like a Doorstop door and it is a common issue when the doors settle.
Door will need adjusting/raising back up and the gaskets replaced.

Give your fitters a call and let them sort it. Tell them the gasket underneath has split and they will know what to do.

If your lucky they might have some replacement gasket in stock if not they will have to order some in from Doorstop (should only take a few days as they are normally pretty good). Then it will just be a 15-20 min job for the fitter to sort out.

Yes it's a door stop door.

We called the fitters out about a month ago due to a draft and the door catching at the bottom so its probably been damaged since,I'm surprised it didn't fall off then.

Cheers I'll give them a call Tuesday.

Is this likely to go again in future?

It shouldn't do (hopefully)

The doors are pretty heavy so it can take a month or so after fitting for everything to settle into a natural location. Then they just need a little adjusting to get them working nicely again.
I fit them myself and have to do this with around 1 in 4 doors. Its nothing major and as long as your fitters are a good company they should sort it all out for you at no cost and within a week or 2 (depending on if they need to order the gasket in or not).
