Hi all,

What is the difference between Non-Manipulative & Manipulative compression fittings? I am on an NVQ course learning plumbing and seemed to have missed the explanation. Is it something to do with one type being used underground?????

Any Advice/ knowledge would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Manipulative are for underground use. The end of the copper tube is heated and then belled. When fitted the belled end is inserted into the fitting and tightened up.
This ensures joint cannot come loose. :)

big difference between hammering the end of said tube and slipping a comp ring over it
not the sort of thing you miss
or am i paranoid :?:

What you also need to know for your NVQ is that
Non-Manipulative will be know as Type "A" Fitting, and
Maniupulative will be known as a Type "B" Fitting.
