Poorly written/buggy usb hub driver will be the cause. Best thing to do is update to the latest driver. You'll need to find the make/model of the usb hub & then search online. If the USB hub is included with your motherboard you should be able to go to the motherboard manufacturers website and download them there.
You may be able to stop the crashes in the meantime by unplugging any usb devices - but maybe not.
Cheers Chudley.
I have tried updating the driver/s in the "Device Manager" window for the usb ports but I just get the message that no updates are available.
Unable to find the make of the usb hub at the moment.
Thanks for the help.
