I live in a new build flat, over 2 years old, with a badly installed bathroom. I've got a conceala 2 installed in a very tall double walled plasterboard plynth, filled with big chunks of plaster and other rubbish that the builders seem to have left behind and hoped no one would spot. (I also found old lucozade bottles behind the bath panel).
I noticed the water was constantly overflowing from the cistern to the bowl. I had a look at the dual flush valve, and noticed that the rubber seal on the bottom was covered in what looked like a blue coloured putty, which I cleaned off - thinking that it might be some kind of limescale deposit. The leak was even worse after that, so I ordered a new dual flush valve, which didn't work either. I now think that the whole thing wasn't seated properly, and that the blue putty was probably something like plumbers mate, to try and fix a bodged install. The water now drains completely out of the cistern, emptying it out pretty quickly.
I've got a plumber who popped round and said they could fix it, and reseat the dual flush valve, but I don't see how they can do it without completely wrecking the plasterboard plynth, as the bottom of the cistern is completely unaccessible. Do I go back to the original plumbers who installed it and try and get them to put it right, or is there another way of doing this which isn't going to be massively damaging / expensive? The flush plate is also installed too high to access the bottom of the cistern.
Thanks!
