Good morning all,

Our concealed cistern toilet flush/ fill valve is leaking quite badly from its top cap in the picture. The water is going down the overflow but we’re losing a lot every day.
The small isolation valve to the left is also leaking when I turn it off.

I’d like to replace both with the same for easier fitting but have no idea what make they are.

The flush/ fill valve is side mounted, bottom entry and has “quiet comfort” on the cap.

Can anyone help with identifying them ?

Many thanks guys

John

I'm not a plumber, just a diyer but I'd replace with any bottom entry fill valve. You don't need to match the existing. My preference would be for Geberit but there are loads of makes and they're all similarly narrow so should fit. Alternatively you could take the existing one apart and try to remedy - probably just needs a replacement diaphram or o-ring.

15mm isolators - I wish I new of a version that didn't leak as soon as you look at it!

The regularly suggested is the Fluidmaster with BRASS inlet and Pegler brand isolating valves.

I've used them in the past but my current Siamp ones are fine and easily repaired when the inlet diaphragm fails.

I believe that style of inlet valve (with plastic tube dipping into the cistern water to reduce the sound) is now deprecated / not WRAS approved as 'backflow' is possible?

I disagree with most of the advice above.

The existing fill valve is effectively a side-entry type clipped into a slot on the rear cistern wall, fed a by flexi from the internally mounted (and apparently moody) service valve. Probably 3/8" thread, almost certainly obsolete/unobtainable.

Either
1) replace the diaphragm washer on the fill valve or
2) replace the entire concealed cistern

To fit a bottom-entry fill valve would require removal of the panel in front of the cistern in order to drill a hole in the cistern and repipe the feed- if you're going that far I'd replace the whole lot and have done with it.

Thanks all. What a great site this is.

I stripped the fill valve and found it full of “gunge”, probably not surprising after 18 years use. It’s now working Ok.
I will replace it though and that flimsy plastic isolation valve.

Thanks again all for the very useful advice
