been doing some work on the gate (cladding a rought iron gate) with feather edge wood and rather pleased with the results it actually looks like a wooded gate, and the security and privicy is much improved

question is as it has the extra weight i noticed when pulling the gate to the concrete post moves a bit, like it flexesl, i mostly just shut it to nice and gently.

is this common for a concrete post to kind of move at the top,
its a 7 foot post.

comments please thanks, ill have to get some pictures up of my progress :)

Concrete posts don't flex, I'm afraid....its moving from the bottom where its (presumably) concreted in to the earth.
John :)

Dig the soil out from around the post and re-concrete it.

Use the gate and a couple of lengths of timber with a nail in the end, as a prop.

You may have extra privacy but at the expense of security, thieves like an enclosed space where they can't be seen, you have just provided that for them.

or the post might be cracked, and flexing on its reinforcement.
