Hello,

Doing a garage conversion, Building Control wants a lintel foundation in the garage door opening.

I did the excavation, and the footings are at the different depths, the wall next to the house has a deeper footing than the opposite wall.

What is the proper way to approach this, how do I raise the deeper footing to match the opposite one?

Thank you

You just span the lintel across. The foundation depths either side are irrelevant.

Not if they're different heights silly.
And there's me thinking it was clear. Here you go, for you for clarity.

I have built up the difference with 7N concrete blocks and placed the lintels on existing footings.
BC is happy.

Thank you guys.

I'm amazed that BC are actually approving of this method. I'll stick to the old way of putting in a foundation when I do mine.

Are concrete lintels approved for use below DPC, potentially saturated wet? I'd worry the reinforcement would corrode and blow apart.

Plus it puts a fairly hefty load on two unconnected wall ends.
