Concrete step bridging DPC. Should I remove it?

I took the skirting board off in my living room the other day to find a colony of woodlice behind it in one corner, which makes me think it might be damp.

The other side of this wall is an external cupboard. I've attached a plan to explain, and the X is the corner I think is damp.

The entrance to said cupboard, as well as the porch next to it, is a concrete step that seems to bridge the DPC. The floor of both is level with the top of the step, and upon entering the kitchen you step back down to floor level - so essentially both these areas have a raised floor.

I have noticed that when it rains, the cupboard floor gets wet, particularly in that corner. This could be in part due to a poor seal between the doorframe and the wall.

As part of the renovation of this property, I'll be knocking the wall down between the two to make the porch larger, and bricking up the cupboard door. This may resolve any water ingress, but I'm wondering if at the same time I should attempt to remove the step and lower the floor? Or are there other, less drastic options?

As I write this, it occurs to me that I've noticed the porch floor damp at times too...
