I am planning to lay a large concrete floor outside a stable block to use as a stable yard and to house a 7.5 tonne horse box. The approx size is 15mx20m, there is a drainage grid roughly in the centre of the area that is connected to sufficient drainage point for the entire area.
I have a willing man to do the work but for my own satisfaction I am seeking confirmation of what he suggests in regards to depth of concrete, possible reinforcing and depth of hardcore.

Anyone with any experience or knowledge in this field would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

150mm well compacted hard core with 150mm concrete on top. you can use reinforcing mesh if you wish, this will need to be set about 75mm up from the bottom.

or halfway

Thank you noseall. For the hardcore, the reinforcing mesh and the concrete individually what sort of price would I be looking at for materials only? Would the hardcore need pounding down and what is the best method to do this?

Thanks again in advance for any advice.
