Condensate Leak

During fitting a new dishwasher we found the condensate that runs behind the kitchen units has been leaking in the corner through a crack in the 90 degree elbow.

Due to a severe winter shortly after installing the boiler (2010) British Gas re-routed the condensate inside the kitchen before we re-modeled the kitchen.

My concern is if we repaire the current leak it will be hard to spot any future leaks if and when they occur. But if we re-route the condensate back outside there is the likelihood of it freezing.

The British Gas engineer estimated the cost of re-routing the condensate is 3 hours labour which with parts would be around £400

Can you access the leaking elbow ? If so just repair it .can’t be many joints

It's quite difficult to access the elbow, it requires removing the dishwasher and the BG engineer wants a bigger hole cut in the panel.

Go and find an experience independent and see what they say/quote

If its repaired correctly, there is no reason for it fail again. Sounds like it was never fitted correctly in the first place.

Its standard practice to run pipework through areas that are hard to access, such as below floors, above ceilings etc.

I have booked in an indy that I've used in the past to repair the elbow. (I only used BG because I'm a homecare customer).
