Our upstairs ceilings are a mix of modern plasterboard and traditional lathe and plaster. In the loft we have a mix of blanket insulation and what appears to be wood shavings and cork?! Whatever it is, it is small pieces of material.
Anyway, I would like to remove everything that is up in the loft and replace it with Knauf Space Combi-Roll. I may even board out the loft in the future for storage purposes only.
My question is to do with vapour escaping into the loft. I have a DIY manual from the Readers Digest (about 30 years old!) and it mentions vapour sheets being layed down before blanket insulation. Is this still necessary? My loft has ventilation at the eaves etc and the roof felt was replaced about five or six years ago. Also, what else should I be doing in order to prepare for the new insulation?
Thanks
