Hi guys,

I am new to the forum.

I have a new build and we have been living here for 5 years now. About a year ago, when i got the loft boarded, i noticed some damp and condensation in the loft, so i got some felt lap vents. Didn't solve it so i got more. I think in total i had like 20/30 around the loft.

Anyhow, last week i noticed that the pipe which was over the extractor fan in the main bathroom was not connected and was likely the cause of the issue. So i have put it back on and tightened it with a clamp.

I have a humidifier up there now and i have left if for a few days and it is collecting moisture, but i noticed there is still a lot of condensation on the felt, literally thousands of white droplets, more prone in some parts than others. I have checked all the vents and they are secure and i have removed the lap vents for the time being as i felt like they were adding to the issue.

My question is, whilst i wait for a roofer to come and see is, can i dry it out with a heater to see if that helps. Further, none of my neighbours that i know of have suffered with this issue at all so i don't really want to put a tile vent in and change the look of my house.

Thanks John, i will try and move the felt back from the eaves and see if that helps. It's cold up there so i know there is ventilation.
