Any suggestions welcome.

The boiler is approx 4 years and manufactured by Gerkros (Ireland based or was as they are now bust). The boiler s fitted with a Riello Burner.

Over the past few weeks the boiler switches on for a short while and then stops and looks like its starved of fuel, the tiger loop empties and the pump seems to fail to do its job. Weve had a plumber out twice now and suggested it cant be the pump as there is no in between with a pump it either works or it doesn't. A solonoid and a control box unit were ordered as new parts to trial to see if it made any difference. Following the control box being replaced. The boiler fired up and worked for about an hour before the same thing happened ie. cut out starved of fuel. I think even the plumber is scratching his head to what could be the problem. Could it be a faulty pump ??

Any suggestions.

Thanks in anticipation.

Outlet of tank blocked, oil filter blocked, crap in the oil pipe, oil pipe damaged. Run out of oil and pull crud in when resetting the burner. All plausable and worth a check. Oh and the tiger loop has failed is another one.

Get shot of your muppet Plumbert!! how can a Control Box or Solenoid valve cause a Tiger loop to empty??FFS!! the guy clearly has no knowledge of oil fired boilers and has cost you money as a result

FUEL Starvation as has been stated already, check filters and the Fire valve etc something is closed or blocked

and it as simple as that!!

P.S. Gerkros is now trading as "GEM" boilers are/were being sold by Screwfix

Thanks guys for your advice....had a different plumber out who claims to be an expert in oil boilers 40 years experience. He said the problem was with the tiger loop not really serving a purpose...and has ended up bi pasing it. The boiler is working fine now.

Thanks
