Hi,

We used to have a combi-boiler and whilst away on our winter holidays we would leave the heating to come on twice-a-day, but we'd turn OFF the mains water in case of a leak. This gave us peace of mind and seemed to work quite well.

Now we are changing to a condensing boiler and wondered if we can do the same thing? Will the condensing boiler still operate (central heating) if we turn the water off at the mains?

Thanks..

BUT turning it on for just two time periods will not prevent freezing as it can get very cold at night.

Best to leave it on 24/7 with the thermostat turned down to say 5 C so that it will maintain that minimum temperature all the time.

I doubt there will be severe frost in Leeds in the next couple of weeks Tony.
