most conditioner drawers empty by syphoning, so if it is not at the correct angle it wont work, also if the conditioner fill valve is not working, this will not start the process.
if after a wash conditioner is still there, its the valve, if its water/ conditioner, its blocked or wrong angle
On some machines there is an adjustment for the linkage that moves the cold water inlet jet to aim in different compartments. If this is out of adjustment there may be no water aimed at the conditioner section.
We had a similar problem when we got our new Hoover 1100, no matter what we did the conditioner was still in the draw at the end of the wash.
In the end after several visits by various engineers, we were advised to change the conditioner brand as the one we were using was too thick/heavy as the water couldn't shift it out of the drawer.
(The Hotpoint we had before never had a problem with conditioner.)
The Mrs was not too happy, but apart from diluting the conditioner there was nothing else to be done. Will not be getting another Hoover, but thats another story.
