Hi, Ive been trying and failed to get my camera to show a live view using ivms4200 but works flawlessly with SADPTool.
I have hikvision camera recording to internal SD card, the images from which I download to my laptop via cat5e cable and can view live footage
Could anyone please tell me if its possible to do the same thing with ivms4200 with the setup I have orhave I been wasting my time?
I would be Grateful for any help.

I use the iVMS-4500 on my iPhone and iPad with my Hikvision cameras which works fine, and alos connected to my DVR.

Just installed the iVMS-4200 software on PC and connected camera and also works fine.

Suggest you double check the address/port/user/password in the device section.

Or it could be the “plug ins “ on your pc
As the camera is being reported as offline I suspect it is a comms issue and not a video decoding issue, hence my request to check the connection details.

Check you are using the server port 8000 (not the RTSP/554 port) -- Assuming you are using the default Hikvision camera ports.

Thanks for the reply, I have now got the camera "online", it was indeed a user name issue as per your suggestion so thank you for that:)
I still can't get a live view though and while I can see the camera name in the config settings, but selecting it does not open any further options.
Could the problem be the network cable from the camera is connected to the laptop and not the router ?

Yes. You can't see the camera's ethernet directly from the laptop because its address is not being set by DHCP. That is done by the router.

So what happens if you then go to "Main View" and select the camera. What does it display?

As Im new to this I have to ask the question, why can I get a live view using SADP Tool which DHCP is enabled?
Another thing, I installed Hikconnect on my phone and the camera name showed on there without me fiddling with anything

If you have previously set up a view 'Garage Cam', it will save that view name even though there is no camera connected to the network. You have presumably saved that view for an installed camera with its IP address. If the camera's ethernet is connected directly to your PC and not the router, that address is not active.

Your phone can't see the camera directly. The phone is connected by WiFi to the router. If you can see the camera pictures it must also be connected to the router.
