Two big building/maintainence companies in as many months.

Are things getting much worse, or were they just badly run?

Do you only concentrate on building firms? Or the many hundreds of other firms/industries that have gone bust? So when people state, oh wasters on the dole, you are now actually thinking that people are actually being made redundant?

And due to a socialist society, those that are made redundant, are replaced with people that have been unemployed long term, to work for free, in those same jobs. CLASSIC! Just what the Japs did with forced labour, and Hitler.

What is our society today? Somebody works a job, gets laid off, then an unemployed drone does the same work for no pay, only their dole, and expenses. HOW MUCH does the company save? No tax to pay? No pay? Free Labour.

Eventually the redundant, spend all their redundancy pay, need to seek work, the cycle continues. Wasn't that a Hitler policy? Sack people, then get people that are out of work to do that job? for no pay. AMAZING!

So a bloke that earns £300 a week, is laid off, on minimal redundancy, the government installs someone in there to work for £65 a week, well below minimum wage, doing exactly the same job. For free? Pay £300, lay them off, or get free labour in.

Is that not the government breaking the rules? So anyone working can be laid off in similar circumstances?

Micky, you must know something we don't. When old Adolf masterminded the 'final solution', I didn't realise it was a way of eliminating workers on the going rate, and replacing them with cheap labour. Your history books must have been different to mine when you were at school.

Anyhow, where can I get a worker for £65 p.w.? Even Polacks want at least £200 these days!

My history books said that Jews had businesses, and worked, and were removed from this, and locked up, under Hitler.

Then people that were locked up, were forced to do manual labour, highlighted by the film Bridge on the river Quai.

So anyone on the dole over a year, must work at a business for free. So why not sack the regular workforce, and have a person on the dole work for you for a month rotation instead?

If the person on the dole refuses, they lose their money, so you can treat them how you like, as, if they don't show for work, or are late, they lose their money. If an employee is late, or doesn't show for the day, you dock them an hour, or take a holiday off them, if it's a doley, lose 3 MONTHS money, including housing benefit, and council tax benefit.

This isn't a new thing, I've worked for 6 months 9-5 in a charity shop, others do groundworks, so don't know why it's in the news now, I asked my advisor at the dole, and they had no clue either.

My argument about it, apart from the parallels above, is that I was working alongside people that had committed a crime, been sentanced by a judge, and ordered to do community service, and were treated with contempt. Ordinary working class people, not idiots, and I was treated the same, even though I have committed no crime. So how brand a criminal, and someone that has no job on equal measures? I wasn't sacked from my last job, they wanted to save money.

Both are considered offensive, but probably as there are more people of Pakistani origin in the UK the latter is seen as more offensive.

Cheers

I wonder if ROK management will put together some sort of business deal. Whereby they take over the bust company whilst walking away from any debt, then start again under a new name?
Something like ROKk Ltd, ROK ScamLtd, ROK Millionaires Ltd, ROK Slave Labour Ltd. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

You can say Japs but not Pakis. Why is that?

Well you can say it, (you just have) but context plays a part. The word is and has been used in a racial/hate based context for many years.
Jap is an abbreviation and may have been used in a derogatory way around about, and for a few years after WW2, but time has done away with anyone who would use it in that context.
Language evolves, so does meaning and usage. The 'P' word is just not usable at this moment in time, without it being assumed you are being racist.

Unless your Del Boy.

"Rodney, go down the **** shop and get some tea bags"

Although that scene has been cut from reruns and the DVD.

MM, I & many others find the term 'Japs' racially offensive. ;)

I own a Japanese car, and have attended several meets, that are attended by a worldwide audience, these events are called Japspeed, Japsport, Japfest. And are serviced with parts suppliers, that begin with the word or abbreviation of Jap..so I believe you are being slightly hypocritical with your comment there. There are several magazines named Jap"xxx", and none of these, as far as I am aware, have ever had that label targetted at them, so I think I'm pretty safe by saying what I did, which makes you? A homophobe? Racist? Look up any Japanese car club/magazine/meet, and I don't think Japanese is referred to at all, but rather Jap.

You are speaking on others behalf? Why don't they support you? Do your research before posting. If it's offensive to you, then you are living in the 1940's, and even then it's wrong.

back to the OP!!
i'd like to see homeserve, BG, SSE etc all go under, infact every company that offers insurance policies that are less than we can buy standard spares for.
then maybe everyone would start earning a decent wage again, then they would spend again and so the economy recovers -- i live in hopes!

Connaught and ROK did not go under because of anything to do with work or lack of work

Their problem was some really dodgy accounting and director mismanagement
