Connect PVC waste to cast iron pipe

I need to replace a PVC pipe going into a cast iron pipe, could anyone please let me know the type of mastic / sealant being used to connect both pipes?

Could be putty or cement.

I agree, I would just like to know which one is suitable from a local merchant such as Screwfix/Toolstation. I have Plumbers' Mate but I think the gap might be too big for that.

I’d go with sand and cement or quick set cement

If it's 110mm plastic going into the Cast, use a McAlpine DC-1 and make good the gap with glazing putty or stiff mortar.
