I know that I have to run the wiring into the switch box and I know that I have to run the wire from the switch box to the light BUT what if I want to run 2 lights (2 outside carriage lanterns) from the same switch?

Do I run the wiring from the switch to the first light and then from the first light to the second? Or do I run the wire from a certain type of switch and run 2 lines out (one to each light)???

HELP!!!

Doesn't really matter, but make sure they are parallel conections and not wired in series.

Confused! - Heres how i'd do it.

Take your supply feed to a 4 terminal junction box 1-Live, 2-Netrual & 3-Earth and leave 4 blank. Your switch lead should then be connected to the switch - red to com, black to L1(tape it red). The other end of the switch lead goes to the junction box and should be wired red to 1-live, black to 4(tape it red). You can then either take 1 or 2 supply lead(s) to the light(s) from the juntion at 2-neutral, 4 switched live. If you opt for 1 connection to light and want to use this light to spur to the other, insert the same colour leads in the light terminal block and continue on. Make sure that the circuit is on a 5/6 amp fuse and that the radial/lighting circuit that you are adding to does not exceed 10 lights of 100w as 1200w in total is maximum. It is also advisable to have an RCD. I use artic cable when wiring outside or armoured cable in potentially damagable low level runs. Also make sure the gland nuts make a proper seal to the light fittings terminal block. N.B: ALL Earth to Earth and should be sheathed. Only exception being double insulated fittings.
Hope this helps.
