connecting a chrome waste pipe to a plastic one...

I'm about to install a basin in a bathroom - the basin (bought second hand) comes complete with a chrome bottle trap and a 30cm long chrome pipe attached to it (waste pipe) no thread at the end of it...I've measured the outer diameter of this chrome pipe (about 35mm) and it doesn't fit any plastic pipe system (push fit, compression...).
How to connect this chrome pipe to a plastic pipe?
