connecting a washing machine to a normal tap removably

Is it possible to connect a washing machine to a normal bathroom or kitchen tap in a way that I can remove it whenever I'm not using it to use the tap normally. And if so how does this work (do I need to turn the tap on and off all the time or it stops the water coming automatically??) and what parts would I need??
