Hi

There is a franke disposal unit installed under the sink, trouble is that this disposal unit has a dishwasher cut out at the back which is threaded. There is very little space between this and the sink tap drain and this dishwasher cut out on the disposal unit which makes it very hard to put any attachments. The dishwasher hose opening (bosch) is smaller in size than where it should attach to the waste disposal unit. Any ideas how i can connect the two?
Thank you

I think a picture would be good here.....maybe you could break into somewhere else in the drain pipe work?

Thanks John. Pictures were also not easy but pls see attached.

Ye gods....
Can we see a picture of the pipe work that the waste disposal unit empties into? From just a bit further back, if you can.
John

I'd really suggest NOT using the waste disposer for any drain inlet. It needs a metal disk knocked out and a rubber pipe adapters with worm drives (or similar) to seal.

Franke state in the user / install manual that
If you are utilizing a dishwasher, this should preferably be connected directly to the relevant connection in the siphon.
which I take it to mean the U-bend / waste pipework from the waste disposer.

Probably a rebadged Insinkerator the adapter is something like this https://www.plumbworld.co.uk/insinkerator-dishwasher-connector-kit-08310d-208-1253641

Modifying the waste pipework is likely better and cheaper. You've not shown pics of that so there's no telling.

Thank you both. @Rodders53 the previous residents had a dishwasher drain connected to this system so the disc has already been knocked out. The waste disposal unit was leaking while using the sink so i had to put a temporary cover on the drain inlet. Ideally i do want to find a way to connect to this as it seems it was done before. Else i will have to put a more permanent cover on the inlet.

Attaching a few more pictures. I am confident to change the drain trap however never worked with waste disposal units before.

In that case you need a suitable rubber connection adapter such as I linked to above or maybe
which shows how one would fit and join to the dishwasher waste.

Franke may be able to advise on the specific part they sell and/or the diameter of the inlet port on the disposer (if that's not in the manual) so you can make a match.

NB ensure the dishwasher waste pipe is fitted so that it drops down to the inlet port and is supported higher to eliminate any possibility of a backflow into the washer.

Thank you. This part seems exactly what will work, although there is no space for this to go in at the back, so I may need this part with an elbow that goes upwards. Will see if I can find something.

Thanks for your help. To update, i managed to fit the pipe without modification by first dipping it in hot water and using some dishwashing liquid to get it on with brute force!
