I live in a first floor flat from where I need to run a garden hose outdoors. The only way to do it is through a window. The taps in my flat are unsuitable for the usual Hozelock type fittings but there is a connection in the bathroom which I am told has been used before for this purpose.
Unfortunately I know little about plumbing so I cannot put a name to it only describe what I see. On the internal side of the stop cock on the water main there is a junction in the pipe. A round 40mm long section 20mm diameter has a bolt or screw in the end, with a 15mm pipe half way along set at an angle. I thought that the bolt must turn the water on/off to the smaller pipe but water comes from the 20mm end as well when I turn it.
