You are looking at the speed of the network adaptors (NIC to switch on the router), not the DSL speed. It says they are connected (synched) at 100Mb/s. You need to interrogate the router status page to determine your DSL rate.
Was your service move up to 8Mb?
1.8Mb is similar to my - BtYahoo Help tested - ... 2.2Mb service.
BTW I have found downloads, from for example, Microsoft seem quickest of all .. I regularly see via the Opera and Firefox download managers speeds of 245KB/sec plus (>1.96Mb/sec) around 90% of ISP quoted max.

What about the rumoured :- ...SP2 limits simultaneous half open connections to 10 before throttling further requests, this is not a registry setting but hard coded into the TCPIP.SYS file. The idea is to stop the spread of worms and the like... http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-430806.php
A fix ? http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=tools
