Constant overflow from old high wall cistern

Hi,
Our toilet cistern seems to be overflowing constantly into the toilet bowl.
I have attached the pictures but it seems that the water level is too high.
Is it just the case of bending the ball valve arm or does the valve need replacing.
If it needs replacing then any recommendations.

That's a high pressure ballvalve - should be fed from mains water . Get a Part 2 HP valve . Unscrew the big nut - valves are interchangeable.
 
Before you bend it you have to run a simple test.
If you lift the arm gently does the water stop.
if it doesn't then replacing parts or the whole item is a matter of choice
