Constant Tapping Noise From Radiator

Hi,
I have a constant tapping noise coming from the radiator in my room when the central heating is on in the house.

The noise is not present when I close the valve for heating in my room, however, when it is cold I put on the heating in my room and the tapping sound becomes present in the mornings.

It is highly irritating, but, I haven't called a Plumber yet, any ideas on whats wrong and how to fix it

could be expansion as the rad warms up

Is the rad the top and bottom horizontal part of the radiator?
If this is causing the problem, any suggestions on fixing it, i.e. changing the radiator?

I also have a thermostatic radiator valve at one end of the radiator.

Ok u can clearly see that i'm a novice to these things!

Do u think that the TRV cud be causing problems or not?

possibly try opening it to the highest setting
have had the same prob when locksheild (the other one ) was closed down

When u mean highest setting do u mean 'Maximum' setting?
Wont that mean my room will get really hot?

if it does then all is working ok
unless you want to start tearing floorboards up

Oh BTW does it help if I tell you that the tapping noise is still present after the radiator has heated up, for example 2 hours after the boiler has been switched on.

would suggest(and only a suggestion)trv is on wrong end of rad
