Stick to MK/Hager.
Contactum has already ceased trading (last year) and dug itself out of the hole. I would chose a brand that may be there in a couple of years time.

It is a cheapo brand and I've had a number of duff bits -especially 2 pole RCBOs.

Mind you, I've had some duff MK stuff in the last few years - since they moved manufacturing out of the UK :(

OK i will stick the Mk/Hager

Yep i herd they had shut down then reopened.

where does MK manufacter? france?

Thanks

i can understand peoples reluctance to use contactum CUs due to spares issues sometime in the future, but would it make any difference for basic switches/sockets etc?

contactum are rubbish. I had the pleasure of installing a load of contactum MCB's in a big panel at work. you cant even get the terminals tight enough without the screw heads stripping. at the point where they started to strip, i could still pull the tails out without too much effort. we ended up binning the lot and using schneider ( merlins) instead.

i stopped exclusivly using MK consumer units when the MCB's changed, i had many that failed, the screws needed fiddling with to get them to start gripping on the thread, but mainly the amount of faulty MCB's was the factor, they also feel cheap now.

I find contactum to be acceptable but not my favorite choice, a would like to go back to the MK sentry boards where the cover went right over the enclosure and you had those rubbery shrouds that slipped onto the cover and were notched around the cables, but visually prefered the MCB's that came on the newer board, where the switch was in the middle of the front.

Sorry for the ramble.

up until a few years ago there were far more returns on MK than contactum.
I got this info from two suppliers each selling about approx 90% Contactum and 10% MK over a number of years.

In fact I know a few electricians who refer to MK as expensive crap (as far as accessories go anyway).

I stopped using MK many years ago because of the quality and favoured contactum
