Our heating system has 4 zones including one for hot water and one for underfloor heating. These are supplied by two 30KW boilers. At the moment every time one of the zones calls for heat, both boilers fire up. Is there a more efficient way to run this? I was thinking of having it so that when one zone calls for heat one boiler fires up but if two or more zones call for heat then both boilers fire up.

Is there a device available to achieve this or does it need to be hard wired using relay logic or a programmable controller.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

A cascade control would achieve what you require it would also swap the lead boiler over at regular intervals to ensure even running of both boilers look at Seimens, Schneider, Fantini-Cosmi all of these companies make such controllers ;)
