Hello,

I have 2 switches in my lounge which control 1 light. I'd like to get rid of one, how can I go about this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

James

Put the three disconnected wires in ONE connector; i.e. connect them together and do the same at the removed switch.

This is so anyone encountering the cable will realise it is not being used.

Thank you so much - that worked straight away.

I don't suppose you know how it'd work in this area? I have kitchen/diner. The switch I want to keep the right switch controls the kitchen and the left switch the dining area. I also have a single switch in the dining area which I'd like to remove if possible. Any help would be fantastic.

Many thanks

James

Unfortunately this will be more awkward as it is the 'main' switch that you want to get rid of.

You will not be able to remove or bury the wires at the switch you want to remove without substantial alterations.
You will have to have at least a blank plate there.

In view of this, would it not be possible to keep the switch?

Back tomorrow if no one else answers you.

It certainly is possible to keep the switch if its a big job, probably not worth it.

You must not leave live wires concealed in a wall with no indication that they are there.
Without considerable rerouting of the cables some indication will be required.

So having a blank plate instead of the switch is, in my mind, rather pointless - but, of course, up to you.
