I have a generally sound, brick built outbulding to the rear of my house. This has access along a private road, and I have vehicular access over this road. What I would like to do is convert this outbuilding into a garage so that I can park my car under cover rather than in the open next to the outbuilding. At the same time, the building needs a new roof, as the current felt flat roof is at the end of its life.
Putting aside planning, the one potential issue I can see is that the land outside the outbuilding/garage falls away as shown on the photo. The floor level in the building is around seven courses higher than the ground outside (on the left as you look at the building). The bounday of the property does extend around 1m into the roadway, so I hope I would be able to have a solid ramp built to allow the car in and out of the garage.
Questions that I'd welcome people's view on are:
The feasibility of adding garage doors;
The feasibilty of having a ramp, and any issues to consider;
Any idea of rough costs for the whole job (roof, doors and ramp);
The best sort of company to approach for quotes (garage specialists, builders, roofers?);
Ideally, any recommended companies in the south Lincolnshire area;
Any other points I should think of!
