Cooker and hob on same wiring

I live in a bungalow and am installing a new kitchen where the built in hob and cooker are going to be 12 ft apart.Currently the cooker is served from the box by 45amp wiring.Can I split the wire in the loft with a junction box a run two 45amp wires to separate Fused Units.

fused units? what are the power ratings of the new appliances? what size is the existing cable?

you should NOT put a JB in the loft to split the cables. what you could do tho is from the cooker switch, have to cables coming out going to each appliance, but you need to tell us the power ratings etc before we can give the the best answer

If you are retaining an existing cooker switch it should switch the oven and the hob. It could be dangerous otherwise, since any repair engineer working on either appliance would probably switch off the cooker switch and assume the appliance was not live. The best bet would be to run 2 smaller cables from the cooker switch to spur outlets for the appliances but as stated you need to check what ratings these need to be. 4mm cable would probably be ok if they are normal size appliances.

Current wiring is 45amp

I can reposition the existing cable to where the hob will be but I need to wire up the cooker on the other side of the room.

In that case your best bet would be to use the existing wiring, with a 30 amp MCB just for the hob and put in a complete new run of 6mm cable to an extra 30 amp MCB for the oven. You will of course need an additional cooker switch as well.

Do you mean from the hob FU to the new cooker FU .i.e from the hob FU back into the loft,accros and back down to the cooker or a seperate cable from the Fuse box to the cooker.
