cooker circuit tripping

Hi, The trip switch tripped on the cooker circuit and now there is no power when it is switched back on. The circuit only powers the cooker and the socket where my washing machine is plugged in. Both were on at the time. Had a look at the wiring for the coker and the socket - looks ok. Do you think i need to replace the trip or could it be something more serious? Its a mini trip B45. Any help appreciated.

Well, you should not have a cooker and washing machine on the same circuit.

I would think that something has burned out - either the cable or it could be the breaker. 45A is a bit big, I suspect the cable may not be big enough.
You could try replacing the breaker but if it is not that I think you will need an electrician to sort it .

If the new breaker does cure it DO NOT use the cooker and WM at the same time or plug the WM in somewhere else.

You really need someone to check everything.

Thanks, The kitchen was layed out like that when i bought the house 8 years ago and it never occured to me to change it.

I'll take your advice, will try the breaker then an electrician if it doesn't work.
