Does anyone know what the minimum distance should be between a cooker hood extractor vent and a boiler flue vent? My plumber has put the new cooker hood extractor vent 6 inches away from the combi boiler flue.

not strictly true
depends on manufacturers instructions an if the cooker extract has one way flaps

The boiler is a Volkera, about 10 years old The cooker hood is a baumatic, brand new
The cooker hood vent (outside wall end) has a plastic flap on it that closes when the fan is not running. The pipe from the cooker hood to the hole in the wall is at least 6 foot in length if that makes any difference?

lor - isn't the requirement the same as for the distance from the flue to an opening in the wall (eg a window / door). I didn't realise there was any relaxation if the duct contained a non return flap? Who is to say the non-return flap will not stick open or forms an airtight seal in the first place?

with a fan pushing the fumes away from the wall and the flaps shut howon earth is there a risk
the law is an ass

As noonespecial said, the regulations have to take account of the possibility of the flaps failing/breaking off and the fan not running, so it must be regarded as a potential air inlet like any other.
