Cooker Hood humming/reduced speed

Neff Cooker hood with two motors, about 15 years old, used to work perfectly, little used, now makes humming noise when speed increased with slide control. Filter clean, no grease around. Motors seem to start ok, then get some sort of feed-back which slows them to a constant speed no matter how far the slide control is moved.

Both motors act in the same way so I suspect the slider. Any views ????
