Until recently I used to stay signed into sites but now every time I visit a site, this one included I have to enter my usernam and password. This happens even when I tick a box to stay signed on.

What settings do I need to chance?

Hmmmm, dunno about the tick the keep me signed in box. Possibly the cookie DIYNot drop on your computer expires after a certain amount of days? I've noticed, I sometimes have to log in (even though I tick the keep me logged in /remember me box)

if you are using Internet Explorer:

make sure the Status Bar at the foot of the screen in on (if not, right click in the Menu Bar or Command bar area at the top, and click it. There will be a Privacy Report icon showing the cookie status of that page. If it looks like a red circle with a diagonal red line, some cookies are being blocked. Left-click on this icon and select "show all websites"

DIYnot.com should show "accepted"

if not, right-click on it and select "always accept cookies from this site"

It is OK to "always reject" advertising tracking cookies.

Maybe you have an internet security package that has set your Privacy Settings to high safety.

Johnmelad You don’t say what browser you are using follow JohnD advise for internet explorer, if using firefox go to

Security

Under passwords tick the box “remember passwords for sites” you can also make exceptions and bring up saved passwords under the security tab, cookies can be set under the privacy tab to except cookies from this site.
Also under the privacy tab go into settings and make sure that when firefox closes it does not clear saved passwords by not putting a tick in the saved passwords box
