Hello,

just a heads up, i'm a newbie....I'm going to do my first coolant flush on my own..

Looking at both the repair manual and youtube vids, during the flushing phase and the heating system turned to hot, is the engine supposed to be running?

Thank you

I reread the repair manual, and looks like it expletely states when to turn on the car, i'm gonna get an experienced friend supervise my moves tomorow \o/

no! the engine should also be cold as it does get flippin hot and also you may damage the engine.
i flush mine with a regular hose from the mains, drain off any excess mains water, then refill with distilled water and antifreeze with the appropriate ratio(read label on antifreeze)

more exp. chappies on here may tell you more

Apart from the hose flush i think he maybe refering to a flushing solution which is added to the coolant, the engine is then started and allowed to reach operating temp for a few miles, allow to cool, then drain and refill with correct water/antifreeze mix. ;)
