Such a noob with plumbing etc.

I have to replace my old Mira EV shower unit with an Excel. The piping is chrome plated copper and external. It goes up into the loft space where there are copper fittings first then all plastic to the combi.

The problem I encountered, on a Saturday of course...when the local Travis is closed, is that one of the fittings on the Mira will undo by only rotating the chrome pipe as well.

I had a look at the fittings in the loft and my guess is that it is rotating in a plastic right angle, just above a very short piece of copper that goes to another compression before the chrome pipe.

I am a bit concerned about messing up the seal in the plastic fitting, so I stopped the job.

What would be the simplest solution? Buy a new right angle and start afresh? or let it rotate until the pipe comes free from the Mira and simply reconnect everything as before?

I just don't want any leaks after everything is put back!

It's grey plastic fittings, which I believe don't exist anymore (at least not at Travis)

Thanks.

Disconnect it at the compression union in the loft, unscrew it, fit the new shower and reconnect the union.

ahh the simplicity of experience, thanks!

So you think that the bit of rotation in the plastic fitting already occurred will not affect the seal?
