Corner joist clearance from wall and which hanger to use?

I need to replace the first joist. IIRC I read somewhere that a gap of 25 - 75mm should be left between first joist and the wall. My existing bad joist is touching the wall. Do I have to leave a gap. If so, how much gap should I leave from the wall?
Also, a normal face mount hanger will not work in the corner. Corner is formed by brick wall one side and RSJ with timer in the web on other side. I can nail the hanger from one side but not from the other side of the joist as the wall blocks my access. Please advise.

What kind of joist's?
How are the joists seated - on wall plates or built into the wall(s) or on built-in hangers or ledgered hangers?

I wish to do something similar. I don't have a triple joist though. Just a single joist. Ledger board perpendicular to the joist as in the picture and a masonry wall parallel to the first joist(where there is wood cladding in the picture).

A hanger like this - https://www.strongtie.co.uk/products/detail/width-adjustable-face-fix-joist-hanger/56 will work but it needs to be put on both sides they say. I don't have access from the wall side to nail it tot he joist

A gap is left to make it easier to run cables/pipes behind, and so the flooring can sit on it, without the plaster covering the joist, but isn't essential. I'd just skew nail the joist & fit your hanger the best you can.. pack between the wall & joist when fitting the strutting.

I din't get the 'pack between the wall &joist when fitting the strutting'. Please explain in layman's term. Bit thick here.
Someone suggested I screw the joist directly to the masonry using M10 bolts(rawl anchor bolts) as I don't have any cable/pipes passing there. Is this an acceptable way?

How about nailing the hanger to the joist first? Then you just need to space it a hammers width out from the wall and you will be able to nail it to the timber in the RSJ.
