Corsa front release lever not working, please help!

So I bought an 08 corsa breeze 1.2 a few weeks ago, have just realised that neither of the seat levers on the front seats work, the ones which you use to allow passengers in the back. Called Vauxhall who quoted 135 for new cables for one seat, can anyone tell me if it is possible and how to do this yourself?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

When you pull the levers.....do they move at all, or are they solid?

The levers move up and down but the seat does not move Lucy

If the levers are free then it would seem that either the cables have snapped or have become disconnected somehow.....unfortunately its usual to remove the seat (4 bolts and an electrical connection) and to turn it upside down to try and determine what is going on.
Sorry I can't comment on the spares prices but Autovaux may be able to help, failing there Ebay or even a specialist breaker.
If this car was a dealer purchase I'd be having a word with them - if a passenger did manage to get in the back then they would be trapped there which is a big safety issue.

YouTube could be your friend here, but I do think its worth dropping in at the dealers.....the car must be fit for purpose at the time of sale and this fault should constitute an MOT failure.

I've tried YouTube but unfortunately cannot find anything suitable And stupidly I bought the car far away from home so will have to make the repairs myself! The dealer would probably just play on the whole sold as seen thing anyway but I 100% agree with you about the mot. Thank you

Against £135 per seat I'd consider trying to get a couple of second hand seats off eBay.

Send him letter by registered post repeating the fault, and stating that if he fails to respond within 14 days, you will be contacting Trading Standards. I believe I am correct in stating that, on a two-door car, the seats have to lock in position and pivot forward to pass the MOT test. Can any MOT testers out there confirm this? Remember it is an offence (for a trader) to knowingly supply a dangerously defective motor vehicle, and I would interpret "dangerously defective" to mean "would fail the MOT".
