Got someone from UK power coming to look at moving the box. He said a rough price estimate was £6,000! That would include digging and traffic management which I know we don't need but that's a massive amount. The last quote I had for just a disconnect a reconnect was about £1,000. Have prices gone up that much?

i guess if NO traffic Management needed that would reduce the cost , and then he would see the situation
and as an estimate , i suspect they have given worse case
when he does come out , discuss that with them

Yep, I have noticed labour charges and product prices , seem to have gone on a ridiculous amount recently for all sorts of labour costs. I was looking at a drain cover i purchased in TP for £36 each in 2018 , now they are well over £130

Moving from where to where?

And why?
Well I assume they will cut into the cable just in front of the house (if that's how it works) and take it about 2 metres to the side of the house.
Was going to do it because it's better outside than in. But not if it's going to cost more than my car!

By the way if anyone knows what I need to do to the keep water out of an in cavity meter box that would be handy in case we can move it. I assume dpc and weep holes like above a window but suspect that's too simple?

You can build a cupboard around a meter but you won't be able to get them to install a meter in an existing kitchen cupboard.

I read the thread as if the OP is under the impression that the existing meter can’t stay in a kitchen cupboard
