could be water hammer

fitted new float valve to first floor toilet tried all types and makes but this problem keeps coming back. valve works fine for 2/3 days then start to hear fill get louder then thump when closes. if i turn water off at stopcock and flush toilets and turn on taps until water stops running then turn water back on no problems with float valve. 2/3 days and same problem back again

any ideas anyone
