Hi,
system:
standard open vented
boiler Glow Worm Fuel Saver MKII BF30
some time ago boiler didn't fire up, after playing with thermostat it did and worked fine for couple of weeks and then stopped
I rang plumber and when he started his checks boiler fired up, he said that gas valve is on it's last legs and will need to be replaced, he said if it happens again I should give it a gentle tap and it should help.
Next day no heat... so I gave gas valve gentle tap and boiler worked fine till next day when it needed another tap in the morning to help it start... on third day no amount of tapping helped
I've done some checks and turned out that field coil in gas valve is gone but more important when I checked input voltage it shoved 36V and on the boiler diagram it says that it should be 24V.
Could the damaged transformer lead to breaking field coil in gas valve?
I bought new gas valve £210 and plumber is coming tomorrow to fit it, should I replace transformer as well?
thanks in advance for any help or suggestions...
