Could it cause any problems If I only replace half of my asbestos roof?

I OWN THE WHOLE TERRACED HOUSE, this is just part fo the house.

The council and land registry tell me to get a lawyer to find out who owns the roof on the pictured part of the house. Please someone help me, surely I dont have to do that??? From the photo you can see 95% of the building is over my side. (im on the right)

Anyway if they refuse to let me put scaffolding on their side, can they really do that? and could only doing half of it massively increase leaking odds where the new half is attached? the old tiles are ancient asbestos , disintegration?

Please help. im getting the renmdering done sone, but need to get the roof done before the renderers come and im running out of time.

I think what they're saying is they need to get the roof re-tiled on the building that is sort of top centre in the pic. If you follow that building/roof up to the terraced row of houses running horizontally along the top, you can see the high majority of the building/roof joins on to his property. As a point of reference, see where there is a change in tile type on the terraced roof, highlighted by the vertical line.

I think they're concerned re can whole roof be done if the neighbour refuses access for ladders, scaffolding etc. However it's not clear from the wording if they've actually engaged with the neighbour or not.

I'm not necessarily saying it's the case here, however I've noticed one or two posts in the roofing and window sections recently that you'd be forgiven for thinking were posted by low level trolls. Cause they seem to ask vague-ish questions and then come back with numerous 'but what if?' even when folk provide reasonable responses.

Regarding the central building, a roofer said that its possible that my neighbour on the left may own the left half of the roof of the central building. I jsust wanted to know if thats a possibilty because it seems odd, what with the rest of the house being my property. Your house deeds will tell you what you actually own and indicate who is responsible for which bit of roof.

If you own the entire building, the roof covering and protecting it is your property and your responsibility. Your deeds will identify your building and therefore it's roof.
