Could you use a frameless bi fold shower door without a shower tray?

Hello

I'm planning a bathroom layout and despite its reasonable size, the soil pipe and window size/positions are limiting the options.

I want the bath to be at the far end to get the nice view out of the window, but that means that the shower area will be just as you walk. It feels like a fixed screen would 'block' the room., even if the main door was outward opening. I've done a rough sketch below, the shower screen and taps are in red, windows marked blue

I'd like to use a wetroom former rather than a shower tray and my question is whether, instead of a fixed screen, a frameless bifold shower door could be used, so that it folds back into the shower area when not in use.

The width from the exterior wall to the door is 100cm and I'm conscious that a folding door will hit the mixer but I don't seem to be able to find any other solution.

You’re probably better off with the door being off the ground, and getting the fall right so not much water flows out under it, rather than trying to get it to seal to the floor, which is likely to eventually knacker the underside seal on it with use

The Duravit Openspace would be ideal.

I have fitted one before. Lovely bit of kit. Both panels fold back to the wall. The panel that looks like a mirror projects away from the wall by (from memory) about 6". I fitted a Grohe iBox mixer. It was the one with buttons for an overhead shower and a corded shower head. The corded shower head had to be pushed parallel with the wall to push the mirror panel back. The ceiling mounted shower head was higher than the glass panels.

I used a wet room floor former for the shower base. You open the mirrored door first, then the clear glass door, step in and pull the glass door towards you. They use magnets to hold both bits of glass together whilst you are showering.

The customer was extremely happy. Although the bathroom was small, he was able to have his stoopidly large bath and a shower, loo and basin in the same room.

It really did work extremely well.

When he eventually moved, he fitted another one in his downstairs loo.

Wouldn't it just, I love it! Do you have any idea of the approximate price as I can't find anything online. I'm hoping it hasn't been discontinued

There's a window one leaf would cover when open, which might look a bit odd but I think I could get over that. Thanks so much, I hope I can track it down!

Aww, it does look like it's been discontinued. On closer inspection though, it has two horizontal bars at the top that fix to the walls so I wouldn't be able to fix it to the one with the window in.

Will have to keep looking to see if there's anything similar because it's a great idea, and the mirror makes it even more genius.

Not cheap. From memory, it was about a grand but that was about 7ish years ago when I fitted it. When my customer moved and had the new one fitted, that would have been late 2021. I didn't fit the second one.

Perhaps email duravit and ask them if it is still available.
