They can be useful for awkward off angle connections and they can also be useful for lazy fitters cutting time and cost corners.
I agree. I'm just looking to tidy it up.Judging by the looks of that hole whoever installed that toilet couldn't be bothered to do a tidy job. I don't think that collar would cover all of that hole but it would, I suppose, make a very untidy job a bit neater.
