Redecorating a bedroom. The coving joints look a bit obvious. What’s the best thing to use to fill and smooth? Decorator’s caulk? Toupret filler? Something else?

When I painted the lining paper, I used acrylic primer undercoat and did the coving in the same paint too. Any prep work other than keying the joint?

No to caulk. Toupret powder filler will be fine but use relatively fine abrasives. You need to avoid ripping the coving's paper surface. Ideally the filler should run two to three inches either side of the fill.

You can use a wet sponge to smooth the filler before it hardens
